May 23, 2009 Cleveland Ohio. Edgar D. Stowers 63 passed away. "Big Ed" Served as Financial Secretary of Kanawha Lodge #25 in Charleston for many years. He also served as Grand Treasurer of the Grand Lodge of West Virginia from 1987 to 1997 .
Ed graduated from West Virginia State College with a BS in accounting, and worked for Merle Peak Accounting service in Charleston.
Ed was also of member of Washington Lodge #58 AF&AM of WV, Charleston Scottish Rite Bodies and Beni Kedem Shrine in Charleston.
In 2007 Ed was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was at Cleveland waiting on a double lung transplant. He was prepared for surgery 3 times but each time the donors lungs were not compatible. He had to be placed on a ventilator and his heart stopped,
He was cremated and the family will hold a private memorial service at a later time.
Edgar leaves behind his wife of 38 years Connie. Daughter Kellie and son in law Russel DeMicco, Grandsons Peter and "PJ" (Patrick). Sister Rosemary Bel
He was preceeded in death by his parents Dewey and Nettie Stowers and a sister, Sandra Stowers.
Anyone who visited Kanawha 25 in those days was greeted by a large man with a cheerful smile and a warm handshake. I can't remember not being greeted by Ed in that manner. It was always comical to see him standing with his predecessor Earl Woodrum. But them both had one thing in common, a big grin that welcomed visitors..
